When I started this blog I swore it wouldn’t be all about infertility, but so far it has been. So here’s a break from the norm with a little life update from the Bellendirs.
My work at the university continues to be a dream. It provides me time to live my life, take classes and it gives me glorious amounts of time off work. This year I experienced my first Christmas break and I am now officially spoiled for the rest of my life. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to give up the university schedule. We also just found out we’ll be working half day-Fridays for the summer! Ryan’s job also continues to go well. I won’t speak for him, but I will tell you all how proud I am of him. I always am, but this year he has been a rockstar. He was promoted at the beginning of 2017 and has been working extra hours and learning new things since then. He continues to be one of the hardest workers I know.
I’m still taking classes through EKU Online, but will be wrapping them up at the end of the year. It’s a huge mixture of feelings, but taking classes has reminded me of how much I love to learn. Except statistics, which I’m sure was born from Satan.
With Ryan’s increase in work hours, we decided to take a break from co-leading a small group. Instead, I’ve been hosting a group of women on Saturday mornings since January while we’ve read through material and gotten to know each other. I had never run a women’s group before, and I can’t begin to tell you how my life has been changed. These women are honest, raw, funny, and craving community & Jesus. They have inspired me and encouraged me in all the ways. For those who are curious, we read through Heather Holleman’s Seated with Christ: Living Freely in a Culture of Comparison during our first go ’round, and are currently reading through Jennie Allen’s Nothing to Prove. Both have been incredible experiences. I’m sure they would have been great to read alone, but getting to talk it through with other women who are processing the same things has been wonderful.
That’s about it so far! This summer we gear up for a beautiful wedding, a fabulous girls trip to Chicago to see Hamilton, Vineyard’s annual Summerfest and whatever else gets thrown at us. I’m excited to see what the rest of the year holds!
